A Moment to Reflect is operated by A Moment To LLC, doing business as A Moment to Reflect, based in Chicago, Illinois, United States (“we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms are a binding agreement between you and us. They govern your use of the A Moment to Reflect website and app (the “service”) and include our Billing & refunds policy. You accept these Terms when you check the agreement box and select “Agree and continue.” If you do not agree, do not use the service, except to manage or cancel a subscription. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle your information. Contact support@amomenttoreflect.com with questions.
A place for personal reflection
The service helps you write your own reflections using brief philosophical ideas and prompts, with an optional AI mirror. Features include a saved collection with private notes and revisited labels, spoken audio, reflection cards and philosophical perspectives. AI-generated content can be inaccurate or unsuitable. Review it and use your own judgment. The app is not a medical professional, counselor, therapist, licensed mental-health professional, emergency service or source of authoritative answers. During staging, full features are provided for testing without payments; intended commercial plans may change before launch.
Our philosophical perspectives are original summaries, with links to sources; they are not quotations or professional advice. We own or license the service, including its software, design, text, features, and branding. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the service for your own devotional use. You may use and share your generated reflections and downloaded recordings for personal purposes, subject to applicable law and any rights in included third-party material. We claim no ownership of your reflection requests or the reflections generated for you. We do not promise that generated content is unique or eligible for exclusive copyright protection.
AI content and important decisions
Generated words are suggestions for personal reflection, not instructions to act or authoritative answers. They may reflect errors, bias, or an interpretation you do not share. Do not rely on a reflection to make medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or safety decisions. Do not stop treatment, remain in danger, or harm yourself or another person because of generated content. Seek help from an appropriately qualified person when needed. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number. If you are thinking about suicide or are in emotional crisis in the United States, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
We do not provide therapy, diagnosis, treatment, or crisis monitoring. No person reviews reflection requests as they are written, and the service cannot respond to an emergency described in a request. A reflection is not a substitute for professional care or personal support. Use Report an issue if a response seems harmful or inappropriate; reports are not monitored as an emergency service.
Your account
You must be at least 18 years old to use A Moment to Reflect. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will close the account and delete its information as described in our Privacy policy. Provide accurate account information and keep sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Let support know promptly if you believe someone else has gained access.
Respectful use
Do not use the service to harass others, distribute unlawful content, impersonate someone, defeat access or daily limits, resell access, use bots or scrapers, copy or reverse engineer the service except as the law allows, or interfere with the service. Only submit information you are entitled to share. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, and transmit the content you submit, including through our service providers, only as needed to provide, secure, and support the features you request, as described in our Privacy policy. This license ends when the content is deleted, except for copies the Privacy policy allows us to keep.
The service relies on third-party providers, including Stripe for payments, OpenAI for AI text and audio, Cloudflare for hosting and storage, and Clerk for sign-in. Their services may be interrupted or changed. Their own terms apply when you deal with them directly, such as at Stripe Checkout or when you sign in with Google. We are not responsible for third-party websites you choose to visit.
Plans and subscriptions
Intended launch plans: Free includes one short reflection per UTC day in Comforting or Grateful tones. Plus is $9.99/month with two reflections daily, all tones, Short and Medium lengths, and up to 50 saved reflections. Voice Plus is $24.99/month with four reflections daily, all lengths, unlimited saved reflections, spoken audio for the current new reflection, and philosophical perspectives. Paid subscriptions renew automatically each month at the then-current price until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method for each renewal plus any applicable tax.
Daily allowances reset at midnight UTC and do not roll over. Plan changes do not reset usage. Audio is available only while the newly created reflection remains open; it is not played from saved reflections. Subscriptions, changes, cancellation and refunds are described on the Billing & refunds page.
Reflection reminders
Reflection reminders are optional. Signed-in Free users can choose one email reminder a day. Plus subscribers can choose up to two reminders a day, and Voice Plus subscribers up to four, by email, text message, or both, on the days and at the times you select in your time zone. Reminders contain a short invitation to reflect and a link to the service. They do not include your reflections, your requests, or offers to buy anything, and they do not use your daily reflection allowance.
Text reminders require a separate opt-in in My account and verification of your mobile number by a one-time code. By opting in, you agree to receive recurring automated text reminders from A Moment to Reflect at the number you provide. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message frequency varies with your settings. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel text reminders or HELP for help. Replies other than STOP and HELP are not monitored. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, and in an emergency call 911. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
You can pause reminders, which keeps your settings, or turn them off and remove your settings in My account at any time, and every reminder email includes an unsubscribe link. We send text reminders only between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the time zone you select. If you change to a plan that allows fewer text reminders or none, we reduce or stop your text reminders when the change takes effect and keep your email reminders unless you turn them off. If you change your mobile number, update it in My account so reminders do not go to someone else. If we have not texted your number for 45 days or more, we may ask you to verify it again before text reminders resume.
Your collection and ending access
Unsaved reflections can be lost when you navigate away or close the page. Save or copy any reflection you want to keep. A downgrade to Free locks the saved collection while preserving it for a future upgrade. Moving to Plus preserves a collection larger than 50 but prevents new saves until there is space. Deleting a saved reflection also removes its notes.
You may stop using the app and request account deletion through support. Cancel an active subscription separately to stop renewal; support can help if you cannot access billing. We may suspend or close an account for fraud, abuse, security risks, nonpayment, or material violations of these Terms. We will email you the reason and how to contact us, unless notice would create a security or legal risk. If we discontinue the service, we will give at least 30 days’ notice and refund any amount you prepaid for the period after paid access ends.
The sections on ownership, AI content, disclaimers, limits of liability, indemnity, and disputes continue to apply after your account ends.
Availability and your legal rights
THE SERVICE AND AI-GENERATED CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY OR ANY SPIRITUAL OR OTHER OUTCOME. Features may change. We will email you notice of a price increase at least 7 days and no more than 30 days before it takes effect, with instructions for canceling online before the new price applies. Other material subscription changes will be disclosed in advance with a way to cancel. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that applicable consumer law does not allow us to exclude.
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, ARISING FROM THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR $100. THESE LIMITS DO NOT APPLY TO FRAUD OR WILLFUL AND WANTON MISCONDUCT, OR TO ANY LIABILITY THE LAW DOES NOT ALLOW US TO LIMIT.
You agree to indemnify us against third-party claims, and the reasonable costs of defending them, to the extent they arise from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the service, or content you submit without the right to share it. This duty does not apply to claims caused by our own negligence or misconduct.
We may update these Terms. We will post the updated Terms with a new date. For a material change, we will email you and show a notice in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect, and we will ask you to accept the updated Terms before your next reflection. If you do not accept, you may cancel your subscription and stop using the service.
We may assign these Terms, our Billing & refunds policy, our Privacy policy, and our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy to a business entity under common ownership or control with us. The successor must assume our obligations under them, your rights will continue unchanged, and we will notify you by email or in the app at least 14 days before the assignment takes effect. An assignment does not release us from liabilities that arose before it. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. These Terms, including the Billing & refunds policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the service. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. We send notices to the email address on your account, and you may send notices to support@amomenttoreflect.com.
Copyright concerns: If you believe material in the service infringes your copyright, email support@amomenttoreflect.com with your physical or electronic signature, a description of the copyrighted work, the location of the material in the service, your contact information, a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized, and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
Resolving disputes
Before starting a court proceeding, you or we must send the other a written description of the dispute and the relief requested. You may send yours to support@amomenttoreflect.com. Both sides will try in good faith to resolve the dispute during the 14 days after the notice is received. This process does not prevent either side from seeking urgent relief or filing a claim before an applicable deadline expires.
If the dispute is not resolved within those 14 days, either side may request mediation by email. Mediation under these Terms is voluntary and requires both sides to agree. It will take place remotely before a mediator both sides agree on. We will pay all mediation filing fees and mediator fees. Each side pays its own attorneys’ fees in mediation, except where applicable law provides otherwise. If either side declines mediation, the sides do not agree on a mediator within 10 days after the request, or the dispute is not resolved within 30 days after the request, either side may start a court case. This does not limit a court’s authority to order mediation or other settlement procedures.
Illinois law governs these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any court case relating to the service or these Terms will be brought in the state or federal courts in Cook County, Illinois, unless the law lets you sue where you live. This choice of law does not take away mandatory consumer protections of the state where you live. Either side may bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies. Nothing in this section prevents you from raising a concern with a government agency. These Terms do not require arbitration or waive either party’s right to a jury trial or to bring or participate in a class action.
If we change this section, the change will not apply to a dispute that either side gave notice of before the change took effect. Nothing in this section takes away any right or remedy that applicable law does not allow you to waive.
